On April 25th, at Valleyview Intermediate School in Jonesboro, AR, an entire 6th grade class of 132 students were taught how to play disc golf at the Uplay Community Connect event.
The event was led by professional disc golf coaches James Proctor, Eric Oakley, Raven Klein, and Thomas Gilbert, under the guidance of program director Ella Hansen, with the aim of providing an inspiring and entertaining experience for both students and teachers.
Principal Ella Bradsher was equally inspired by the excitement shown by the students and the accessibility of disc golf, and has promised to share the equipment and curriculum provided by the program with other schools in her district, thus allowing more children to learn and play disc golf on a regular basis during their PE classes.
As of 2023, the Uplay Community Connect teaching events have been able to achieve some impressive results, including:
- Donating 150 Discmania Starter packs to schools and youth programs (containing 450 discs)
