Community Connect 22: Idlewild Open
At the beginning of July, Uplay hosted our 9th Community Connect at The LWS Open at Idlewild in Burlington, Kentucky. We put on a star-studded clinic for the local children and community members during a very well-planned schedule of festivities on the Thursday prior to round 1. Dustin Keegan once again led the clinic and was joined by Uplay Ambassadors James Conrad, Ella Hansen, Madison Walker, Casey White, Sarah Gilpin, and Cynthia Ricciotti.
The course provided a fantastic venue with a large area of practice baskets in the middle- surrounded by booths and pros selling merchandise, while mingling with all the attendees. Uplay's Professionals became the center of attention once we started the clinic. We had all the children in attendance come up and pick out a free Uplay x UDisc deputy and a Trash Panda mini. There were 38 children at the clinic, plus an official count of 82 adults, including parents, fans, and spectators. Many more people were standing in the distance- eagerly listening and absorbing the presented experience!
During the event, Uplay gave out an additional 246 discs to all of the children who attended the event and spectated throughout the weekend, bringing our total up to 1,905 discs donated to children and 1,775 children and 256 adults and educators taught during the CC's so far this season.
Uplay is happy to report that our summer events have really amplified the individual relationships that the local fans, clubs, and staff uniquely get to experience with the touring Pros during an awesome educational presentation. We are getting very positive reviews and the word is spreading quickly- that the information and knowledge pertaining to disc golf skills, manufacturer and partners products, and the demonstrations from touring Pro players prove to be a helpful and meaningful experience for everyone!
